Thank You Proverb Writers!

Congratulations for accepting the "spiritual formation" opportunity and challenge in writing a proverb in response to the Proverbs sermon in our Cover to Cover Series. It is our prayerful hope that the Lord is growing each of us as we engage His Scriptures more deeply with our minds and activities.

As we noted at our weekend services, the proverbs emailed into NewSong are being posted for perusal, reflection and community enjoyment. We have included only first names next to the proverb to acknowledge their personal formulation yet retain some privacy. We have retained all form and wording as they were received with no editing (except for a few typos). Enjoy!

NewSong Proverbs...

"Sin is a pebble in your shoe. Best to stop your walk and shake it out before it bruises your heel and every step becomes painful."  Tom

"A seed of truth planted in an open heart can produce change, which blossoms into actions. But, a seed of truth planted in a closed heart yields only a pot of infertile soil."  Tiffany

"Cling to wisdom as an infant clings to its Mother. She will keep you safe and well nourished."  Joshua

"It is easy to take pride in your actions; It is hard to remember to be humble for God’s glory." Teri

"The noise of my children is music to my heart; their silence would leave a gaping hole."  Tammy

"There is a universal blessing: may every day find you closer to God. For the righteous man, this would be joy. For the wicked man, this would be horror, for God is a righteous judge.

We can call something beautiful if it fulfills the purpose God intended for it: so a stone can be beautiful, so also a man born blind whom Jesus will heal. The beauty comes from the Artist's hand, from the Beautiful One."  Robert

"He/she who studies late nights in bed will gain more sleep than knowledge."  Ann

"If you find someone who is well-read, don't lose them. Invite them to be a part of your permanent community."  Janet

"When the whirlwind of circumstances clouds your view of God and the dust rising clogs your mind and thoughts, as all settles and falls to the ground, God is in the midst, surrounding and protecting you by His Spirit. For God is the only way to the light. He is your shelter during the storms. He is our ever present help. Growth comes from the storms."  Nancy
