TRIADS

ACCOUNTABILITY TRIAD HOW-TO

First—WHAT IS an Accountability Triad?

Accountability means a lot of things.  At NewSong it means:

  • Keeping track of your life—am I moving toward God in Christ Jesus and the power of the Spirit?
  • Checks and balance—letting others check on me and help keep me in balance
  • Being responsible (response-able) to make necessary changes as I learn to follow God
Accountability Triads include 3 people of the same gender that meet weekly for accountability, prayer and Bible discussion. The groups are led by participants; they do not have an assigned leader. The group as a whole decides the time and place of each meeting, and which book of the Bible to read through.

WHAT do we do?

Meet every week for an hour (that’s 20 minutes per person).  Go longer if everyone agrees.  Pray.  Share Scripture.  Talk through the accountability questions.  You’ll figure it out from there.  Or you can ask for help.  We’re here.  And we’re in this together.

What happens in a meeting?
It's a very simple agenda. In no particular order, share about your lives, discuss the agreed upon accountability questions, discuss what you have been learning from your Bible reading and finally, pray for each other and for those you are reaching out to.

WHY 3 people?  Why not more or 2?

3 is easier to match schedules with for consistent meeting.  3 allows  everyone to share and be heard in a way that lifegroup size usually doesn’t permit.  3 is better than 2 because three perspectives avoid blind spots better than 2.  And if 1 can’t make it, 2 can still meet.

HOW do I form a triad?

Pray and ask God who he might have you begin a group with. Consider a friend or family member that you might be interested in asking to form a group with you. WHO do you know who is following Jesus and/or wants to? Who lives or works near you?  Ask people you know well and already trust.  Ask people you don’t know well yet and find out if they have the same goal as you.  As long as 3 people want to move toward Jesus and be accountable, you can establish a triad.

If I cannot find two others, then what?

If no one comes to mind, or if you receive some "no's", please contact Dennis Bachman at NewSong Church.  He'll be happy to introduce you to others who would like to form a triad. For more information please use this online form to initiate the process.
