Summary:  Although the "prayer offered in faith" seems to be a simple blanket statement for healing, we need to ask the question, what type of healing is offered here? We tend to think first of physical healing, which I think is rightly a PART of this passage, but it seems that the greater healing that the passage speaks of is actually forgiveness of sins. It is a call to confess sins to other believers, to ask them to lay hands upon you in order to receive healing prayer for one's sins. We know this is all possible because of the healing offered to us through Jesus' death, and we are able to pronounce and proclaim the reality of his healing, through confident prayer, in our own lives and in the lives of our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
