BRAVE Workshop for Children

How much: $25 per child ($5 per additional child; fee waived for parents participating in the instructor training)

NewSong's Team James 1:27 ministry is hosting The Joyful Child Foundation’s BRAVE Workshop—a 90-minute, age-appropriate safety lesson for elementary-school children that includes verbal and physical skills to defend against sexual abuse, violence, and abduction. The information presented is designed to nurture each student’s ability to recognize potential dangers, verbalize discomfort or a need for help, and physically resist abduction, assault, or other types of violence.

Registration

  1. Fill out the online registration form by March 21. Space is limited to 40 students. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  2. Mail a check made payable to NewSong Church with a memo note for "BRAVE Workshop." You can also drop off a check at our Front Office.
    • $25 per child ($5 per additional child; fee waived for parents participating in training)

  3. Download, print, and fill out the following forms for EACH child. Please send them with your child on the day of the workshop.

Additional Details

Brave Assistant Instructor Training for Adults

When: March 28, 2015, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Where: NewSong Church, 945 W. Covina Blvd, San Dimas, CA 91773
Who: Parents, educators, and other adults who care for children
How much: $50 materials fee (includes lunch)

NewSong's Team James 1:27 ministry and The Joyful Child Foundation invite you to participate in an important training opportunity to educate, empower, and unite families and communities to prevent crimes against children.

The BRAVE Assistant Instructor Training provides an intensive look into combatting crimes against children. Participants learn about The Joyful Child’s BRAVE Programs for children, as well as how to co-teach 90-minute, age-appropriate BRAVE Workshops for children that include life skills and physical skills to defend against sexual abuse, violence, and abduction. These workshops are designed to nurture each student’s ability to recognize potential dangers, verbalize discomfort or a need for help, and physically resist abduction, assault, or other types of violence.

A Live Scan background check is required to participate in this training and serve as a BRAVE Workshop Assistant Instructor for future workshops presented through NewSong Church. Participants will be able to assist with a BRAVE Workshop led by a Joyful Child Foundation Master Trainer on the day of the training to have an opportunity to practice what is learned in the training.

Registration

  1. Register online at The Joyful Child Foundation website by March 16
  2. Complete a Live Scan background check through the La Verne Police Department or other authorized Live Scan service provider by March 16.
    • Download, print, and fill out a Request for Live Scan Service form and take it with you for your Live Scan. Please bring this completed form with you on the day of the workshop.
    • If you have already completed Live Scan through the course of your employment, please bring a completed Memorandum of Understanding form in lieu of completing an new Live Scan background check.
  3. Download, print, and fill out the Instructor Certification Agreement and bring it with you on the day of the workshop.
